Get the Facts On Healthcare and Protect Your Bottom Line
Health care law changes are contained in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was approved by the Congress and signed into law March 23, 2010. Its stated goal is to reshape America’s health care landscape by expanding health care coverage.
For employers, the 2010 health care law mandates some fundamental changes in how their employees obtain health care coverage.
- Certain small businesses with no more than 25 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees that offer health benefits are now eligible for health care tax credits.
- Beginning in 2014, small group employers may be eligible to participate in a Health Benefit Exchange.
- Beginning in 2014, employers with 50 or more FTEs that do not offer health care coverage must pay a fee if any FTE receives premium assistance through an Exchange.
The 2010 health care law is built around dozens of provisions. Some changes are already in place. But the provisions will continue to be enacted over the next several years. Visit this site for updates relevant to you.
