Entrepreneur 101
What is Entrepreneur 101: Realizing the American Dream? The Entrepreneur 101 (E-101) program is a high school program that utilizes a school-based restaurant to teach the students entrepreneurial skills and how to own and run a business. As part of the E-101 program, students will undertake responsibility as the owners and operators of this business with the assistance of experienced business professionals and educators. What does the E-101 Program Teach Students? Through E101, students will develop technical and entrepreneurial skills necessary to manage a successful enterprise. Additional relevant curriculum segments have also been created to integrate core courses; such as accounting, math, chemistry, art, English, government, computer applications, layout and design, merchandising and marketing. The hands on experience will give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they learn in an educational environment to an actual running business. Who has an E-101 Program? Westside High School in Houston and Del Valle High School in Austin participate in the Entrepreneur-101(E-101) program. Westside High School has been branded with an Outback Steakhouse, while Del Valle has been branded with a Carmelo's Italian Restaurant. Both have been built within the school, to serve as a business laboratory for E-101 students. The students take responsibility as the owners and operators of this business with the assistance of experienced business professionals and educators.
