Get Involved

We’re all in this together. Each person’s involvement makes our voice stronger and our political advocacy more effective.

The Texas Restaurant Association has been the industry’s advocate for more than 70 years and we invite your participation.

Remember – if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu!

Here are some simple ways for you to get involved.

Center of Influence
(COI) is a TRA program which seeks to identify the people who make decisions impacting our industry and TRA members who may have connections with them. It works to strengthen ties between legislators and TRA members and to foster new ones. TRA members participating in COI keep informed on key issues, maintain meaningful contacts with public officials and work closely with TRA government affairs staff to implement programs and projects.  Sign up today! click here

Voice Your Opinions
Find out  TX Leg online who represents you in the Texas Legislature and the U.S. Congress.  Read their district analyses and demographics. Examine the legislation they sponsored and how they voted on issues key to our industry.

Then, write them a letter or email them to let them know what you think!

Local Advocacy
One of the most effective ways to advocate your position on a particular issue or range of issues is to form a coalition of others who share your views and goals. A coalition representing a wide range of industries demonstrates to officials that their proposal will impact more than just a few restaurant owners. Coalitions also have the benefit of providing a larger group to share the workload.  Here’s how to get started.
